Math
We are all in different classes now. I am teaching Advanced Math. Your student's math teacher will be sending home "signed papers" for your child every 2 weeks. If your child is having any trouble, please know that I am more than happy to stay after school to help your child succeed.
All students need to practice their multiplication math facts for fluency! Timed facts tests will be given for extra practice.
We are starting a new unit in math about multiplication and division. During this unit, students will build on the concepts from unit 2, Factors and Multiples. Students solve multiplication problems with 2 and 3 digit numbers, solve division word (story) problems, use factors, multiples and number relationships, and work to understand the relationship between the dividend, divisor, quotient, and remainder in division problem.
In class, students will spend time discussing problems in depth and will be asked to share their reasoning and solutions. It is most IMPORTANT that children accurately and effieciently solve math problems in ways that make sense to them. At home, encourage your child to explain his or her math multiplication facts through 12x12 and to practice the math facts through 12 x 12.
